HAVE A SPLASH!

Water park, like the ones you have in metros, is one of the few things children craved for in the state capital. But not any more. Courtesy the state tourism department, youths in Patna can now enjoy water sports in the most natural of environments, where no marked boundary can seal their sail. As children get ready to explore the expanse of Ganga in speedboats, The Telegraph speaks to some of its readers about their expectations from the new watersport facility

Fast heartbeat

Yuvika Jha, a Class I student of Notre Dame Academy, was so excited about the speedboat ride that she couldn't stop smiling. “My parents did not get on the boat with me but I was not in the least scared,” she said. “I want to enjoy each and every ride.”

Yuvika was also one of the lucky few to enjoy an aqua ball ride. The ball floats on water and can accommodate a number of people. She was so excited to play in the ball that she refused to come out. “It was great, I have never had so much fun,” she said.

Craving for more

Four-and-a-half-year-old Justin Knight, too, enjoyed the water sports like Yuvika. But he was left craving for more. For, the young adventure-lover wanted to drive the speedboat himself. “I enjoyed the ride a lot. I had also taken a ride in a speedboat in Shillong when I was younger. But I don’t remember much of that,” he said.

Justin was not allowed to go on the jet-ski either, as he is too young for it. He did not think so, though. “It would have been so much fun if I were allowed to go on the jet-ski,” said the excited boy.

Plans galore

The facility that opened on October 2 has been attracting youths but many are yet to visit it. Those who have not yet experienced the thrill of the speedboat or the aqua ball ride, however, have plans galore.

Shubham Kumar, a Class XII student of Patna Central School, just can't wait to have a go at the water sports. “I have seen actors and actress of Hollywood movies enjoy these sports. I never thought I would be able to indulge in it near home,” he said.

Shubham added: “I would really like to drive the speedboat like the Hollywood actors. That would be really exciting.”

First-hand fun

Shubham and others like him are ready to be patient and train themselves to enjoy the water sports. “I want to train properly so that I can really enjoy the rides like jet-ski,” he said. “If I can’t drive the boats or go on the ski on my own, there would be no fun!”

Syed Mohammed Saquib, a Class XI student of Patna Muslim High School, is of the same opinion. “There is no point in letting someone else drive. I don’t want to go on the speedboat just to see the scenery. I want to be in the driver’s seat,” he quipped.

More the merrier

Saquib added that the water sports would be more fun if one could enjoy it with friends and family.

“I want to go there with a large group of friends. There should be many rides, so that all of us can enjoy together,” he added. “It would be no fun if some of us have to keep waiting while others take turns at the rides.”

True enough! And for that, the authorities have already planned for expansion of the facility. A number of other games would also be introduced soon.

So are you ready to become the king of the waves? This could just be your opportunity.
