Patna: The JDU levelled sexual harassment allegations at leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi's private assistant Mani Yadav on Friday, a day before the RJD's dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to protest the rape of minor girls at a state government-funded shelter home in Muzaffarpur.
JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar and party chief spokesperson Sanjay Singh alleged that both of RJD chief Lalu Prasad's sons were involved in a sexual harassment incident in the national capital in 2008, and that Mani had been charged in Patna under the Immoral Trafficking Act in 2011 and had even been jailed.
The JDU leaders shared what they said was a copy of the FIR against Mani filed at Gandhi Maidan police station on May 8, 2011. The JDU demanded that Tejashwi sack Mani.
Sanjay sought an explanation from Tejashwi over the alleged eve-teasing incident.
"Before going to Jantar Mantar to sit on dharna over the Muzaffarpur case, Tejashwi ji and Tej Pratap Yadavji should explain what happened on the night of January 1, 2008, when his father Lalu ji was the railway minister in New Delhi. They were very young at that time and these two brothers had got in involved in eve-teasing at three places - at Ashoka Hotel, Connaught Place and a Mehrauli farmhouse - on the same day," Sanjay alleged while speaking with journalists at the JDU office here.
Sanjay further claimed that both Tejashwi and Tej Pratap had been beaten up badly in New Delhi, and demanded that the brothers come forward and tell the people of Bihar about the 2008 incident.
He accused Tejashwi of shedding crocodile tears over the Muzaffarpur incident because the non-government organisation Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti that ran the shelter home was registered in 1991, when Lalu and Rabri Devi ruled Bihar.
The JDU leaders admitted that no FIR had been registered in the "eve-teasing case" but they distributed paper cuttings of the news published on January 2, 2008.
Neeraj said rape-accused RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav was political adviser to Lalu, while Tejashwi's private assistant had been chargesheeted under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
"We want to know who is Mani Yadav, son of Shiv Chandra Yadav, resident of R-Block Road No. 5 and flat No. 8 against whom the FIR was filed under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act at Gandhi Maidan police station case number 134/2011? Is it not true that Mani Yadav is private assistant to the leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav? If it's true, then, is it morally right to keep him as private assistant?" Neeraj said.
He demanded that senior RJD leaders such as Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Jagadanand Singh, Shivanand Tiwari and Ram Chandra Purbey ask Tejaswhi to sack Mani.
Reacting to the allegations, Tejashwi said: "The chamchas (sycophants) of Nitish Kumar do not have any work. If we start revealing all activities of Nitish Kumar's son, they will not get any place to hide their faces. The JDU leaders should also bring to the public domain what Nitish's son does."
Asked about the charges against Mani, Tejashwi said he did not care for such allegations.
