The entrance test for Super 30 was as difficult as any engineering examination for Akriti Verma.

The success story of Super 30, which trains students to take engineering examination, especially IIT, was on show on Sunday when more than 1,500 students from various parts of Bihar and Jharkhand took the entrance test at Bankipore Girls’ High School. On the basis of this test, 30 students would be selected to be trained for engineering entrance examination.

Adarsh, another examinee, said: “The advantage of studying at the Super 30 coaching centre is that only limited students are groomed for toughest examination — IIT-JEE.”

Akriti, a Class XII student, said: “I fared well and hope to be groomed by Anand sir to clear the IIT entrance.”

Another candidate, Himanshu Shekhar from Madhubani, said: “Super 30 tests the potential of students selecting a limited number while others provide coaching to many students.” Shekhar, a Class XII student of Indian Public School, Madhubani. After writing his paper, Shekhar claimed that he was confident of clearing it. The classes are going to start from July 29. Students would be provided coaching along with free accommodation and food till June next year.

The hour-long question paper consists of 30 questions — 10 questions each from physics, chemistry and mathematics. There are three marks for every correct answer while for a wrong one, one mark would be deducted.

Super 30 is an institute run by Anand Kumar since 2002. Here, Kumar selects 30 meritorious students from poor families, and grooms them. He bears the expenses himself.

This year, 28 students from Super 30 cleared the IIT (Advanced). Kumar said: “Our first priority is to admit underprivileged students.”
