Power supply in the city is set to improve with the operation of Karbigahiya grid sub-station from the second week of August.

The commissioning of the Karbigahiya 132/33KV capacity grid sub-station would enable the power company to supply an additional 160MW of power in Patna. The grid has been constructed at a cost of Rs 70 crore.

Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited sources said Karbigahiya grid is ready and would start functioning by the second week of August. The commissioning of the grid would enable smooth power supply to the south-eastern parts of the city.

The commissioning of the grid would benefit areas including Karbighaiya, Mithapur, Kankerbagh, Bahadurpur and parts of Rajendra Nagar. At present, these areas receive power supply from Mithapur grid sub-station.

The Mithapur grid would be dismantled once its load is shifted to the Karbigahiya grid. We will start the shifting process to clear the Mithapur grid as it has now been developed as an educational hub the sources said.

The grid would benefit one lakh of the 3.5 lakh consumers of Patna Electric Supply Undertaking. There are eight grids in the city. Two grids at Sampatchak and Digha started operating from April 2012.
