Patna, Nov. 17: Chetna Samiti will organise the three-day Vidyapati Smriti Parv Samaroh from Friday.
Since 1954, the samiti celebrates it on the occasion of Kartik Dhawal Trayodashi in memory of the great poet, Mahakavi Vidyapati.
Addressing a news conference here at Vidyapati Bhavan, Chetna Samiti chairman Vijay Kumar Mishra said: “The samaroh will include offering shraddhanjali (respect) to the poet through various cultural programmes. Anand Mela and Bal Mela would also be held and each day will have its own significance.”
Chetna Samiti secretary Vivekanand Thakur said on the first day, Vidyapati will be offered shraddhanjali. Thereafter, Yogendra Bharti will sing Vidyapati geet (songs). Thakur said: “Events for the first day will be held on Vidyapati Bhavan premises, whereas on the other two days, it will be celebrated on the campus of the Bihar Engineers’ Service Association in Buddha Marg.” Thakur added: “Eleven persons from different fields for extraordinary works would be awarded.
They will include Triloknath Mishra from Sanskrit Bhasha Sahitya, Ramdev Jha from Maithili Bhasha Sahitya, Rama Das (honour for music/dance/drama), Vimla Dutt (honour for Mithila paintings), Bhagyanarayan Jha (Chetnasewi Samman) and others. The samaroh will be inaugurated by ex-chief minister Jagannath Mishra.”
Chetna Samiti vice-chairman Premkant Jha said: “Like every year, a seminar will be held on the second day on Maithili Bal Sahitya: Sthiti evam Sambhavna.”
Exhibitions on Maithili books and Mithila paintings and handicrafts would also be inaugurated on the day.
Cultural events like Maithili folk songs, traditional songs and dance will also be held.
A kavi sammelan will also be organised.
Maithili drama Jhijhir Kona written by Arvind Akku will be staged under the direction of Kaushal Kumar Das the same day. Bal Mela and Anand Mela will be real attraction for the day. Anand Mela will have women from Mithila come up with delicacies from Mithila. Shakrauri made with gud and bundiya will be one of the tongue ticklers.
