| A large number of devotees from areas dotting Bhagalpur came to the district headquarters to witness the immersion procession of goddess Kali on Sunday. The procession started from Saturday evening and continued till late on Sunday night. Kali puja organiser Ghutro Tiwary said: “Like every year, the idols were assembled at Station Chowk from various places. The procession then proceeded towards Mushari Ghat.” The immersion procession here also provides opportunity for street hawkers to do brisk business. But it also creates problems for those scheduled to leave the city. S Ravi Kumar, a businessmen from Delhi, had missed his train on Sunday because of the procession traffic. Power supply was also snapped in some areas because of the procession. “We had to face immense difficulties as the power supply has been cut off since (Sunday) morning. I would have to wait till midnight for the power supply to resume,” said Babita Kumari, a homemaker at Dipnagar. Rani Choubey, public relations officer, Bhagalpur Power Distribution Company, said keeping in view the safety and security of the people, the supply was cut off in the areas through which the procession passes.
