Munger: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday exhorted youths not to depend on the government for jobs, and to get technical training or turn entrepreneurs.
"My advice to Bihar's unemployed youths is that they should not only run after government jobs," he said at a labour department event, Niyojan Mela, in Jamui on Sunday. "Instead, they should get technical training in different technical trades soon after matriculation and should either get employment in private sectors in Mumbai, Delhi or in Gulf countries or set up their own entrepreneurship to earn livelihood.
"A government cannot give jobs to all unemployed youths," he added. "It's pitiable in India that those who earn livelihood by manual work are treated as second-class citizens. In foreign countries, those who work manually earn more than those whose work requires more mental work."
"I appeal to all students of Bihar not to pursue higher studies but get skill training in different trades of ITI and various programmes of the Bihar government after matriculation. Students should pursue higher studies such as BA, BSc and BCom if they want to be teachers or lecturers. Others should get skill training after matriculation. They should not waste time in pursuing higher studies," Sushil said.
"The Bihar government has recently launched Mukhya Mantri Gram Pariwahan Yojana in which five youths - three from SC & ST communities and two from OBCs - will get Rs 1 lakh each as subsidy to buy vehicles to start their own transport business. In this project, 765 unemployed youths of SC, ST and OBCs will get subsidy of Rs 1 lakh each in 153 panchayats in Jamui district to start their transport business," he added.
