Patna, Nov. 14: Chief minister Nitish Kumar’s janata darbar today got a glint of glamour when Bollywood actor Neetu Chandra walked into the weekly meet, much to the surprise of the visitors and government officials.

The actor reached 1 Aney Marg, the chief minister’s official residence, with another artiste, Arti Puri from Punjab, around 11.45am with a request to see the functioning of the darbar.

Nitish directed his secretary S. Siddharth to take Neetu around and explain the functioning of the darbar. The actor spent around half-an-hour at the meeting and said she was impressed with the concept where the common man got a chance to directly interact with their leader.

The common men and women lined up at the darbar were equally impressed by Neetu’s beauty. Maduresh Kumar, a visitor from Nalanda district, said, “For the first time in my life I have seen a Bollywood actress in person. She looked really gorgeous in that white dress. My left hand was itching since morning today and I was thinking something good will happen. I had come here to complain about the delay in my father’s pension payment. I feel I have been lucky to see such a stunning actress.”

Another visitor, Nilesh Dubey from Gaya district, said: “I have clicked her photos on my cellphone and will show them to my wife and children. Seeing her is like a dream coming true.”

It was a rare moment for the 500 complainants from the different districts of state, who had gathered at the darbar. Many of them clicked Neetu’s photos and the actor too posed for them along with Arti.

Neetu closely watched the working style of Nitish and his officials. She said she wants to produce a film on the concept of janata darbar.

“I am amazed to see the functioning of the chief minister’s janata darbar. It is really helpful for the needy people. The concept has inspired me to produce and direct a film on janata darbar,” Neetu said.

Praising Nitish, Neetu said: “It is the hard work of Nitishji that Bihar has achieved such great success and development. He has given us an opportunity to feel proud of our state and about being a Bihari.”

After seeing the darbar functioning, Neetu who was accompanied by her brother and director Nitin Chandra, invited the chief minister for the special screening of her film Deswa, which is slated for release on November 18.

Initially, Nitish hesitated to accept the invitation but later, on Neetu’s insistence, he called his secretary and asked him to check on which date he would be in Patna.

He then accepted the invitation and after inquiring about the total duration of the film, said: “Okay, I will watch your film anytime between November 20 and 22.”
