Patna, Jan. 28: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have nabbed a man who used to pose as a passenger on the Patna Rajdhani and the Guwahati Rajdhani and steal electronic gadgets from passengers.

Vikas Kumar, a resident of Nalanda, was arrested today from Patna Junction.

GRP officers recovered two laptops, five mobiles and a digital camera from him.

GRP inspector Ramakant Prasad said the cops had a tip-off about Vikas’s modus operandi, and had formed a team to nab him.

“Our men, posing as passengers, were aboard the Patna Rajdhani and the Guwahati Rajdhani, on which Vikas used to operate. He was caught red handed,” said Prasad.

The inspector also said: “Vikas stole a laptop from one Shivbhojan Kumar, a resident of Assam. The other laptop was stolen from a Delhi resident.”

The police were still trying to ascertain who the owners of the other recovered gadgets were, said a GRP source.

Vikas used to target passengers on these trains and slip away with the valuables when the train entered Patna Junction, said the source.

The rail cops were trying to ascertain if Vikas was a member gang.

Prasad said Vikas was being interrogated at present.

“We are interrogating him. He could be a member of a gang that operates on these trains. We are trying to ascertain how many thefts he has committed,” said the officer.
