Kosi Viklang Kalyan Sansthan (KVKS) authorities are unhappy with the government’s alleged apathy towards either taking over the school or extend financial help to reopen the institute closed for paucity of funds.
Spread over 3.5 acres at Garhbaneli village under Kasba police station in Purnea district, the institute used to impart education to visually impaired students and those who cannot speak and are hard of hearing up to Class VIII.
“We had to close the institution because of paucity of funds. We have run from pillar to post for relief, but to no avail. We had also requested the government to take over the institution, but nothing happened,” said Anil Kumar, who teaches sociology at ML Araya College and is the secretary of the KVKS.
“We had approached the governor, whose office asked the divisional commissioner to inquire into the situation. We provided the commissioner with all the information. We need Rs 50 lakh to run the institution. It is impossible to pay 10 per cent of the amount as caution money,” he said.
Divisional commissioner Brajesh Mehrotra said: “As far as my knowledge, there is no document related to KVKS pending in my office.”
