Patna, July 28: National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Patna, today organised Orientation Programme 2011 at its centre, where 70 students from the fresh batch of masters in fashion management and bachelor in fashion design were introduced.
The programme started off with lighting of the traditional lamp by dignitaries, including National Human Resource Development Network, Patna chapter, president A.N. Prasad and others.
NIFT, Patna, director Patna Satish Chandra Jha said: “This is the fourth orientation programme we are celebrating. This year too is significant for us, as we are celebrating the silver jubilee of National Institute of Fashion Technology in India, which was formed in 1986. NIFT boasts of economic growth and social change at all its 15 centres across India. We are also proud that our master students from previous batches have got cent per cent placement for the past two consecutive years. All India toppers for the masters in fashion management course are also from our campus.”
Jitendra Singh, the vice-chancellor of Nalanda Open University, said: “I heartily congratulate the freshers. The distinction to have cleared the national-level competition is in itself a great achievement for them.” He added that giving aesthetic nature to their work is related to creativity and this creative part of their work is going to make them happy for sure.
Nawal Kishore Choudhary, former head of department of economics, Patna University, said: “Fashion is something that people always look up to but it is not something very exclusive. Even if a person is not very fashionable, the way he/she handles himself/herself is his/her own style. Fashion does not mean one has to follow a trend.”
