The residents of Pakridayal sub-division in East Champaran, sharing border with Nepal, are worried over the alleged renewed activities of Maoists.

The Naxalites, sources said, held a meeting at Barkagaon village in the sub-division on Tuesday. More than a hundred members of different banned outfits allegedly participated in it.

Taking serious note of the development, the police started an investigation. Pakridayal police station house officer Vinay Kumar said: “We are yet to get any clue regarding the presence of Maoists from elsewhere in the area.”

The assistant superintendent of police (operations), Sanjay Singh, said: “The police were informed about the meeting of outsiders at Barkagaon village under Pakridayal police station area. But we found after a probe that some villagers were fishing in the village pond for several hours that day and left the place after their work was finished.”

Singh denied Maoists organised any meeting at Barkagaon, but sources said strategies to settle scores with the police were chalked out at the meeting. The suspected detractors in the party, apprehended to be spies of the police, were asked to mend their ways in the future or be prepared for the consequences. The rebels discussed the measures required to strengthen the Red movement in East Champaran and other districts bordering Nepal. They also decided to intensify their movement against corruption, said the sources.

Arrest

A Maoist was arrested from Belduria village in Rohtas district on Sunday morning, reports PTI. The arrested rebel, Dinesh Yadav, was an aide of Maoist leader Munna Vishwakarma.
