Patna: Four persons have been arrested over the Rs 45-lakh bank cash van loot incident of August 29 .

Six armed criminals had looted Rs 45 lakh from a private cash van carrying the money of Allahabad Bank's Masaurhi branch.

Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj said: "The Masaurhi bank loot case was a blind case. To crack it, we had constituted a special investigation team (SIT). Based on the sketch of the criminals and scientific investigation, the Patna police conducted a raid in Danapur and arrested the four criminals - Vikash Kumar, Santosh Paswan, Vicky alias Rajan and Sanjit Kumar - who were involved in the case."

The police are looking for Sipu and Bablu now. The police said the criminals had shared the booty among themselves after the loot. The criminals had purchased two Scorpio vans, a motorcycle, television, refrigerators, music system, jewellery and land at Masaurhi.

According to the police, gang leaders Vikash and Sipu had planned the loot two months ago. Vikash had taken a room on rent in front of the Masaurhi branch of Allahabad Bank to keep a tab on the movement of cash from the bank.

On August 29, they had assembled at Masaurhi and followed the van from the bank. When it reached Nima Halt, the criminals pounced upon the van with guns and looted the cash. The van driver had suffered severe bullet injuries.

An officer with the SIT team said: "Vikash and Sipu were the conspirators of the crime. For executing the plan, they had hired people who had no police case against them."

Police said as Vikash and Sipu were the brains behind the incident, Vikash received a larger share of the looted money. Vikash has purchased land at Masaurhi, a Scorpio and a few jewelleries.
