Muzaffarpur, May 25: Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) has stumbled upon 10 cases of impersonation in the 2010 batch and has sought cancellation of their admission by Bihar State Joint Entrance Competition Examination Council.

Even last year, SKMCH was rocked when seven cases of impersonation in the admission of the 2009 batch was detected.

The startling disclosure of Mithlesh Babu, a student of the 2009 batch who was arrested by the Ahiyapur police last year in connection with impersonation, has exposed the details of the involvement of 10 more students of the 2010 batch.

Earlier when Mithlesh was lodged in Khudi Ram Bose Memorial Central Jail, he reportedly divulged the names of 10 more students of the 2010 batch. Mithlesh, however, gave out the modus operandi of the racket behind the impersonation. Following his revelation, the 10 students of the 2010 batch who got admission by forging their pictures disappeared after attending classes from the medical college.

This has fuelled speculations of forged admissions and the SKMCH authorities reviewed the process of admissions and scrutinised papers, including pictures, which proved to be a perfect case of impersonation. Thereafter, they skipped classes fearing police action in view of the ongoing investigation by the internal vigilance cell of the SKMCH.

SKMCH principal D.K. Sinha has sought permission from the higher-ups of the health department to lodge an FIR against the 10 students who took admission by furnishing forged and tampered documents, particularly pictures. The principal said the SKMCH has set up an internal vigilance cell to monitor and investigate the admission process and minutely examine documents furnished by the students at the time of admission.

The committee stumbled upon 10 fresh cases of fake admissions. The committee took strong exception of the continued absence of those 10 students from the classes of physiology, anatomy and biochemistry. The committee suspected foul play behind the continued absence of the students.

Head of the departments of the said disciplines brought the matter to the notice of the members of the internal vigilance cell. Thereafter, the committee sent a letter to the postal addresses of the students, requesting them to come and attend classes.

Even then they did not respond to the queries made by the college and skipped the examination of the first semester that was conducted in March-April this year. This has buttressed the point of impersonation and suspicion of fake admission.

“During the investigation of the documents, it was found that the pictures were tampered with and it was a case of complete impersonation,” said the principal. SKMCH has also written to the Bihar State Joint Entrance Competition Examination Council for cancellation of their admission and necessary action.
