Patna: A father-son duo was killed when they were working at their farm on Friday morning at Ghoswari under Barh sub-division.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Vilas Yadav, 65, and his son Pappu Yadav, 40.
According to Ghoswari police, the incident occurred on Friday morning when around half a dozen people carrying arms entered the field of the Yadavs at Gosain village and fired at them killing them on the spot.
Ghoswari police station house officer Vibhuti Bhuhan Kumar said: "Based on inputs provided by the villagers, we are conducting raids to nab the assailants."
The SHO added that old feud could be the reason behind the murder of the father-son. Bhushan said: "We have come to know about a rivalry. Deceased Ram Vilas Yadav's younger son Nanulal Yadav had a dispute with a certain Arun Yadav of the same village."
On April 7, Arun was shot dead in the village over the dispute with a certain Srikant Yadav of the same village. Sources said Nanulal had taken the side of Srikant. Police sources said to avenge the death the family members and supporters of Arun killed Nanulal.
The early morning murder at the village created a sense of panic among the villagers. The gruesome murder left many in shock. While the father was shot in his chest, the son had bullet injuries in his head. The police had recovered around half a dozen empty cartridges from the spot.
A police officer at Ghoswari police station said: "The land at Ghoswari and other adjoining areas are very fertile and expensive. On earlier occasions there had been murders in the area over land."
