Patna, June 9: Taking a leaf out of crusaders like Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, students of Patna region (Bihar & Jharkhand), who are upset over the alleged average marking in most of the subjects in CBSE Class XII results, have decided to go on a hunger strike on June 13.
Gearing up for the strike, the students said it is the only way they can get justice. Moreover, if the demand is not met on the same day, the strike would continue further.
Eleven students and six guardians and social workers have given consent to go on the hunger strike. They have requested other students having similar complaints to join them on Monday on the CBSE regional office-building premise.
State human resource development minister P.K. Shahi, too, feels that there could be problems as far as marking is concerned. Shahi told The Telegraph over the phone from Delhi on Wednesday that he feels there is something unusual with the marking. He said: “If nothing is done, I would be pursuing the matter. I have also asked the state HRD principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh to have a look into the matter.”
However, Shahi also said the CBSE should look into the matter and he has spoken to the chairman of CBSE, Vineet Joshi, on the issue yesterday. He had asked Joshi for a revaluation of answer sheets but Joshi had ruled out any possibility of rechecking until he investigates into the matter.
Shahi said: “Joshi said that the CBSE officials had gone for revaluation of mathematics paper of a student, who had taken an engineering entrance examination. But there were no changes.”
However, Joshi is ready for the re-totalling of marks but this is not something new or different since there is already a provision for re-totalling, Shahi said. Under the Right to Information Act, students can even ask for the answer sheets.
