| A resident checks out clothes at a daylong exhibition organised at a Patna hotel on Wednesday. Poonam Agrawal, the 40-year-old owner of Akansha Boutique in Rajendra Nagar, set up the exhibition and brought to the residents several of her creations — cotton, linen and silk suits as well as Indo-Western saris with zari and thread work. She took a leap of faith, err fashion, five years ago and has not looked back since even though she has no professional training. She told The Telegraph: “This is my first exhibition and I have a lot of expectations from it. Ever since I was young, I have been particular about my clothes. My mother and grandmother taught me how to stitch and work on intricate designs. It’s because of them that I was able to start my boutique five years ago without a professional degree in fashion.” Rina Agrawal, a homemaker who came with a friend to the exhibition, said: “The colour combination of the suits and saris appealed to me. The designs were very good too. I am thinking of buying at least two suits.”Text by Shuchismita Chakraborty, picture by Nagendra Kumar Singh |
