Two persons, including a woman, who had allegedly sent a text message to inspector-general (railways) Amit Kumar on Wednesday afternoon threatening to blow up the Patna Sahib Railway station on October 30, were arrested on Friday.

The duo, identified as Vijay Kumar and Poonam Devi, who were in a live-in relationship for a year, told the police that they had planned to implicate Poonam's husband Vinay Kumar, so that he gets trapped and "was out of their lives".

Strangely, the police said Vinay was absconding and efforts were on to trace him. The case would be clearer only after Vinay is found.

Vijay Kumar has been working as a private security guard in Fatuha and Didarganj. Since the message was sent to the inspector-general, proper security arrangements had been made at the station.

Vijay is a resident of Bettiah. It has come to light that Poonam is married to Vinay for 13 years and the couple has four children.

However, for the past one year, she was in a live-in relationship with Vijay. Apparently, the woman wanted to get rid of her husband and she and Vijay conspired to implicate him so that he gets tangled in such a sensitive case.

"Vinay, a resident of Aurangabad, who has a criminal background, has been absconding for the past two days," SP (rail) P.N. Mishra said.

Going by the duo's initial statement, the police added they were trying to trap Vinay for the past two months.

"The mobile phone from which the message was sent has not been recovered yet. However, it has come to light that the number (8227091201) belongs to Vijay. The couple, during initial rounds of questioning, said on August 8, Poonam's husband (Vinay) had come to Patna and had forcibly taken away the phone from the duo," the officer said.

The duo said the phone was not with them and it is Vinay who had sent the text message.

"Investigations have proved that on August 10 (two days after the phone was allegedly snatched), Vijay had used the same number to make a call. The house in Fatuha where the couple was living was searched and many SIM cards have been recovered. The police strongly suspect that the couple had planned to implicate Vinay but the plan didn't work in their favour. We hope Vinay is found and the story gets clearer. We are on the lookout for him," the officer added.

He said a team has been formed to trace him. "There are certain things which remain in the dark and Vinay needs to come back. A special team has been formed to find him," the SP said.
