The launch of Greenpeace’s solar-powered 100KW micro-grid on Sunday helped Dharnai village in Jehanabad district to declare itself energy-independent on Sunday. It will provide quality electricity to more than 2,400 villagers. Set up at Rs 3 crore, the micro-grid is a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind enterprise that would provide 24x7 electricity to more than 450 households and 50 commercial establishments. This includes 70KW for electricity generation and 30KW for 10 solar-powered water pumping systems of 3HP each. Telegraph picture |
