Patna: Electronic signage would be installed outside the Patna zoo enclosures to display to visitors details and information about the animals.

The signage would also include audio of the animals and graphics.

"We have put forward a proposal to the headquarters and after approval, work would be started on this project," Patna zoo director Kamaljeet Singh told The Telegraph.

Right now flex boards are installed outside the animal enclosures and need to be replaced at intervals. The electronic boards would be more attractive to the eyes, and Singh said the proposed boards would bring in flexibility on the information being provided.

"One can add interesting infographics and sounds to such boards which would attract the attention of visitors," Singh added.

The zoo administration will add five pedal boats. "A good number of visitors show interest in boating and as we have just two functional boats at present it leads to a long waiting period," said the zoo director.

The zoo administration is also exploring the idea of introducing one or two shikaras for boating. #

"Our lake is very deep and we would seek advice of experts whether operating shikaras would be safe or not," Singh said.

The zoo administration deputes two divers along the lake during the period visitors boat in the ponds.
