Eight rebels, including four women, were arrested at Turki village on Tuesday evening.
They have been identified as Umesh Rai, Dinesh Rai, Lallan Rai, Ram Parvesh Rai, Puja, Arti, Kalawati and Bharti. Five detonators, a pistol, three cartridges, electric wire, an extortion letter and posters were seized from their possession.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ranjit Kumar Mishra said the arrested were wanted in several cases of loot, extortion and explosion at construction sites to extort levy money from M.P. Singhla Construction Limited and other agencies engaged in building of roads, bridges in Muzaffarpur.
The arrested have confessed to their involvement in organisational and subversive activities at the behest of top rebel leaders.
The SSP said the arrested rebels have been shifted to the terrorist cell of Khudi Ram Bose Central Jail in Muzaffarpur.
