| Amulya Kumar Singh, orthopaedic surgeon and director of Akshat Seva Sadan Hospital, cleans up a slum area in Yarpur, Patna, on Monday. Fifty hospital officials and residents of the area joined him in the initiative to clean up the area. “The campaign got huge support from residents. We are happy to take up this campaign on the pious occasion of Chhath. We have decided to continue this campaign. On Tuesday, we shall clean up Khagaul Road,” Singh said. He said those who took part in the programme cleaned up an area extending till half a kilometre. “We are educated about sanitation-related problems and the need to tackle it. Hope our initiative will show positive results,” he said. Gunjan Singh (28), a Yarpur resident who took part in the programme, said: “I am happy to be a part of this campaign. I told people that sanitation measures should be undertaken from home only. If there is no dustbin in the locality, residents themselves should arrange for it.
