Patna, Oct. 28: The state government today promoted five Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to the rank of additional director-general (ADG) from inspector-general (IG). It notified Ravindra Kumar as ADG (headquarters) after giving him promotion.
The post of ADG (headquarters) was vacant after Rajvardhan Sharma retired on September 30 this year. P.N. Rai, who was then posted as ADG (law and order), was asked to officiate as ADG (headquarters) till someone else was given the charge.

The departmental promotion committee had cleared the names of the five IGs for promotion to the rank of ADG at its meeting on Monday. But the home department today issued an official notification in this regard.
The notice states that A.K. Upadhayay, IG (special vigilance unit), has been promoted to the rank of ADG. He has been retained in the same department.
