The chairman of Bihar Legislative Council, Awadhesh Narayan Singh, released a tourism directory on Monday.

The directory titled, “Paryatak”, contains details on various districts of the state.

Singh said: “The districts of Bihar have one or more specialities. The tourists would find the directory very helpful.”

Sanjeev Kumar, who wrote the documentary, said: “I keep travelling and I have seen that the languages of Bihar don’t have the Hindi letter, main, which means oneself. Instead words like hum, meaning us, are found in most of the languages. This means, people of Bihar, who come from various regions and traditions, don’t believe in self-branding. They promote unity.”

Kumar added that the food people in districts eat is also unique. “The book has mention of food such as litti chokha of Bhojpur and variety of sweets of Nawada. If a tourist goes to Tekari in Gaya, he/she would find rasagullas. A confectioner told me that his father used to prepare rasagullas of 5kg each. Apart from this, I have also added the historical importance associated with the various districts,” he said.

The special guest at the event and the department head of Hindi, Patna College, Shardendu Kumar said: “The book would have colourful pictures in the other editions.”
