Patna: The JDU on Tuesday went all out against Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi Prasad for retweeting a viral video of a girl being molested in Saharsa.
Questioning Tejashwi's concern for women, the JDU said he was defaming Bihar for power. In the tweet, Tejashwi had taken pot shots at chief minister Nitish Kumar for remaining a mute spectator.
Three JDU spokespersons -Sanjay Singh, Ajay Alok and Neeraj Kumar - held a joint press conference to attack Tejashwi. They even said they suspected the RJD was behind the incidents in Jehanabad, Gaya and other places. "Tejashwi has taken a supari (contract money) to defame Bihar, as he is in pain after losing power," said Sanjay Singh. "We have a strong suspicion the RJD is behind these incidents. Tejashwi has no love for women's issues. His private secretary continues to be Mani Yadav - a man who was arrested for flesh trade," said Neeraj, stressing that it was the Nitish government that introduced measures to empower women.
The JDU pointed out that an RJD member had been arrested in the woman-stripping case at Bihia. "Tejashwi remains silent when Dalits homes are torched by RJD supporters in his constituency of Raghopur. But he goes to Delhi to burn a candle on other issues," a JDU leader remarked. He also pointed out that Tejashwi himself was an accused in an eve-teasing case in New Delhi. The JDU said Tejashwi should stop hypocrisy through his tweets.
The JDU also attacked Tejashwi for frequently using the term "RCP tax", a reference to JDU's Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chandra Prasad Sinha. "In Bihar there are two taxes - income tax and RCP Tax. He (RCP) extorts money from the public and bureaucrats," Tejashwi has said in the past. "It is because Tejashwi has seen GST (Gunda Service Tax) in his childhood when his parents ruled the state and inflicted Jungle Raj in Bihar," a JDU leader said.
He insisted that Tejashwi should first clean up his own house by expelling MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav, who is in jail in a rape case, and his private secretary Mani Yadav.
