Culture treat beckons at book fair

The fourth edition of the Magadh Book Fair promises a lot of fun not only for bibliophiles but also for ones with a taste for culture.

Apart from buying books, the event would provide a platform to performers from the state to display their talents.

Preparations for the 11-day event to be held at Gandhi Maidan from December 19 have already started. Book fair convener Kundan Kumar said: “For the first time, National Book Trust (NBT) would set up its stall.”

Apart from NBT, other reputable publishers like Rajkamal Prakashan Pvt. Ltd, Pustak Mahal, Gita Press, Parragon Publishing India, Harper Collins India, Buddhist Book Publication Society, Penguin India, Oxford University Press and others would set up stalls at the book fair.

“Separate stalls are being prepared for the publications at the venue. We have decided to organise the fair for the fourth time keeping in mind its success in the past three years,” he added.

Apart from the wide range of books, there would be lot of academic, cultural and artistic activities for children and youths. Programmes to be organised include stage plays, quiz contests, nari shakti utsav, mushayara, kavi sammelan, seminars and dance-and-song competition.

The competition for school children would begin on December 21.
