Patna: A 30-year-old youth was killed in Dariapur in daylight on Saturday, leaving senior police officials red-faced.

Police said a youth was attacked with a knife by another man following a brawl over some issue around 2pm.

A team from Pirbahore police station rushed to the spot and admitted the victim to the Patna Medical College and Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police seized a knife and a country-made pistol from the spot.

City superintendent of police (central) D. Amarkesh said the deceased was identified as Mohammad Wakil, a resident of Alamganj in Patna City sub-division.

Later, a team led by deputy superintendent of police (town) S.A. Hashmi raided different hideouts. However, nobody was arrested.

On Friday morning, a 22-year-old youth was shot dead by a group of criminals near Tamtam Parao under Alamganj police station. The assailants fired at Akash Kumar when he had gone to a men's parlour for a haircut.

Station house officer of Alamganj police station Om Prakash said the deceased had criminal antecedents.

Akash's name had earlier figured in the murder of one Ajit Kumar on July 20, 2017. He was arrested in the case and sent to jail. "Gang rivalry is one of the reasons behind the murder," the SHO said.

Earlier, a youth was shot dead under Khushrupur police station in Patna rural. The deceased was identified as Gulfam.

Earlier, a constable Amrish Kumar was injured by a gang near Panch Shiv Mandir under Kankerbagh police station. The injured cop has been admitted to PMCH.

A report from Nawada said a 55-year-old man identified as Lakhindra Sah was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl.

In Lakhisarai, a youth was killed near Vidyapeeth Chowk, in the heart of the district headquarters town. The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
