The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) has launched a nine-month certificate programme in corporate social responsibility (CSR) to develop trained and certified professionals.
The institution, which comes under the ministry of corporate affairs, has selected 15 organisations to act as ICP-CSR partners with an aim at creating young professionals with corporate social responsibility skills.
The Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) in Patna has been selected as the partner institution where the young professionals will be imparted corporate social responsibility skills.
Amit Choubey, the CSR consultant for Bihar-Jharkhand, said: “According to the ministry of corporate affairs new guidelines, every corporate house should spend at least 3 per cent of its profit in corporate social responsibility. The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs has taken the lead in this direction to create young professionals with CSR skills.”
The CSR programme will be a professional and knowledge oriented IICA patent. Any student with a graduation degree from any recognised university can apply for the course. The fee for the nine-month course is Rs 1 lakh.
Another CSR consultant Abhishek Kumar said: “The programme has been designed in such a way that after the completion of the course the students will have full exposure to industries. The course curriculum includes 12 weeks of project work with an NGO/foundation/trust/ society.”
The consultants claimed that in coming years a student having with a CSR certificate would have wide placement opportunities.
Interested students can apply at Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs website and the last day for application is July 31. The online examination will be held on August 24.
A source said the CSR certificate courses assume importance as many public sector undertaking are spending a part of their profit in social responsibility by adopting villages to look after parks and even teaching students from weaker sections of society.
The Centre for Social Responsibility & Leadership (CSRL), a social organisation, runs many projects helping IIT aspirants to crack IIT-JEE test.
