Chhapra, Feb. 27: Saran police today seized fake currency amounting to almost Rs 50,000. A person was arrested in this connection.
Saran superintendent of police (SP) A.K. Satyarthi said acting on a tip-off, Marhaura sub-divisional police officer Dil Nawaj Ahmad arrested one Mohan Sah from Marhaurrah Bazaar and recovered 99 fake currency notes of Rs 500 along with some Nepalese currency. He said the arrested person hails from Dighwara block in Saran but has been living in Nepal. He added one Rameshwar Kartik is the kingpin of this racket.
Arms recovered
Saran superintendent of police (SP) A.K. Satyarthi said two accomplices of Sanjay Singh alias Pappu Singh, who is a constable in the neighbouring Vaishali district were arrested today and two country-made pistols were recovered from their possession.
The SP said Sanjay was trying to create an atmosphere of terror in Harihar village under Daudpur police station to catapult his wife to the post of mukhiya unanimously. When the villagers complained to the police, a team was constituted to nab Sanjay, who is wanted in cases of dacoities and has spent some time in jail. He is out on bail these days. Satyarthi said when the police raided his house he managed to escape with his sharp shooter, Bhuar Singh. His driver Sonu Singh was nabbed. On the basis of information given by Sonu another person Gehu Singh was arrested. A 9mm country-made pistol was recovered from Sanjay’s home. A country-made revolver was also recovered from Gehu’s house, he said. The SP added he would recommend the dismissal of Sanjay Singh from the police force.
Kidnap foiled
An attempt to kidnap a panchayat sevak was foiled by the Saran police today. Saran superintendent of police (SP) A.K. Satyarthi said Ram Ratan Ram, a panchayat sevak of Gobarhi panchayat under Daudpur block was taken away by the husband of mukhiya Babita Devi and others in a vehicle when he had come to the panchayat bhavan in the district headquarter today.
