The city is getting ready to host the sixth Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)-India region meet in Patna from February 16 to 19.

Patna: The city is getting ready to host the sixth Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA)-India region meet in Patna from February 16 to 19.

Patna divisional commissioner Anand Kishor on Monday discussed the plan and issued instructions to the officials concerned to complete the preparation by February 14.

The CPA-India region has Speakers of all the state Assemblies, and in case of bicameral legislature, the chairmen of the Legislative Councils as well. The Lok Sabha Speaker happens to be the ex-officio chairperson of the body, which works under the aegis of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association with its headquarters in London.

Kishor held the briefing at SK Memorial Hall on Monday in the presence of Patna district magistrate Kumar Ravi, deputy inspector-general (central range) Rajesh Kumar, in-charge senior superintendent of police (SSP) Lallan Mohan Prasad, Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Keshav Ranjan Prasad.

The other officials who were present in the meeting were managing director (tourism) Inayat Khan, city superintendent of police (Central) D. Amarkesh, additional district magistrate Ashutosh Verma, Bihar Assembly private secretary Navin Kumar and deputy secretary Asim Kumar.

Addressing the gathering, Kishor said: "All preparations must be completed by February 14 and make the event so successful that people should remember Bihar forever." The inaugural session will take place at Gyan Bhavan and the parliamentary session will take place at the Bihar Assembly.

Kishor instructed the liasioning officers to bring the dignitaries at the scheduled places from places where they would be putting up. He ensured that all the liasioning officers must know English because the delegates would be from different states and abroad as well.
