Patna, Feb. 29: John Mather, the 2006 Physics Nobel laureate, and Jaap Harsten, the inventor of Bluetooth technology from the Netherlands, will be among the luminaries to deliver lectures at Technika, 2012.
State science and technology minister Gautam Singh will inaugurate Technika, the annual techno-management fest of Birla Institute of Technology, Patna.
The fest has more than 75 events lined up for three days, including guest lectures, workshops and musical performances. Students, lecturers and eminent personalities from the country and abroad will be a part of the fest, which is being organised in association with The Telegraph.
At a news meet today, BIT, Patna, student Indranil Goswami said: “An education fair will also be a part of this year’s Technika. Five countries will take part in the fair for the first time.”
The United States — India Educational Foundation (USIEF), British Council, Netherlands Education Support Offices (Neso), Campus France and Education Singapore will represent the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Singapore respectively at the education fair.
Hackathon, where participants will be asked to prepare software through separate computer programming in a stipulated timeframe, will also be organised at the fest. Twelve teams — nine from India and three from aboard — will take part in it.
