Patna, July 13: Chief minister Nitish Kumar today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to deliver on the promises he made to the people of Bihar during the last year's Lok Sabha elections.
"Most of the time, the Prime Minister visits foreign countries. At times, he travels inside the country too. He (Modi) has remembered Bihar after 14 months. Let us see what he brings on the table for the state," Nitish said sarcastically, adding: "So far, he (Modi) has not delivered a single promise he made."
"He (Modi) had promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks, deposit Rs 15 to 20 lakh out of the received black money in every individual's account, employ youths and give support price to farmers with 50 per cent profit added," Nitish enumerated Modi's promises during the Lok Sabha campaign last year.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the weekly janata durbar, Nitish supported the RJD chief Lalu Prasad's campaign to press for release of the caste census report. "For the first time after 1931, the country has carried out a socio economic census counting on castes. If the census has gathered the figures on castes why should it not be made public? The figures will help policy makers in formulating plans and schemes for the backward and deprived sections," Nitish said, adding: "They (BJP) are playing the backward class cards for electoral gains. But they are not making the figures public for they don't want to do anything for the backward and deprived sections of society."
Asked about his decision to attend Sonia's iftar leaving Lalu's at 10 Circular Road on Monday, Nitish said: "Sonia ji's invitation came in advance. And Laluji suggested me to go to Sonia ji's iftar."
