After frequent turbulence in the operations of flights from Jaiprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna, during the winter season owing to visibility problems, most airlines are making a fresh and stronger comeback this summer. The state capital is getting one new flight while two other flights suspended for the past few months would be resumed from Wednesday.
Under its summer schedule, IndiGo is introducing a new daily flight from Patna to Hyderabad via New Delhi from April 4. The new flight, 6E 232, would take off from New Delhi at 6.15am and reach Patna at 7.40am. The same flight would depart from Patna airport with a changed number, 6E-385, at 8.10am and reach New Delhi airport at 9.50am. The flight would depart from Delhi airport at 10.35am and reach Hyderabad airport at 12.35pm.
The same flight would depart from Hyderabad at 4.05pm under a different number, 68 386, arrive at Delhi airport at 6.10pm and then reach Patna airport at 8.25pm. The same flight would depart from Patna airport with a changed number, 6E-233, at 8.55pm and reach Delhi airport at 10.30pm.
Jet Airways is also going to resume the operation of its afternoon flight, S2 4401/ 4403, from Patna airport from Wednesday.
The flight, which operates on Calcutta-Patna-Calcutta-Bangalore-Goa route, is scheduled to arrive at Patna airport at 7.45am and again at 8.30pm respectively. The flight was cancelled from the first week of February. Sources in Jet Airways said the airline has changed the flight Jet Light 288 to Jet Connect 4288 under its summer schedule. The flight operates on Delhi-Patna-Delhi route and its scheduled arrival time at Patna airport is 1.20pm.
The summer schedule of GoAir will also come into effect from Wednesday. The low-cost airline would resume its morning flight G8 342, which was suspended since November last year.
The flight would operate on Delhi-Patna-Delhi-Mumbai route and would reach Patna airport at 8.30am. GoAir has also changed the route of its evening flight G8 344. This flight, which earlier used to operate on Delhi-Patna-Delhi-Pune route, would now operate on Delhi-Patna-Delhi-Bangalore route and arrive at Patna airport at 5.45pm. The afternoon flight, G8 608, would operate on its original route — Mumbai-Patna-Ranchi-Mumbai.
Air India has already started operation on its new summer schedule from March 26. The public sector airline is operating three flights daily on Delhi-Patna-Delhi route — AI 410 (arrival 9.20am), AI 408 (arrival 3.15pm) and AI 406 (arrival 8.15pm). Operation of the afternoon flight, AI 408, which was suspended from February 27, has also been resumed.
The fate of operations of flights of cash-strapped Kingfisher Airlines, on the other hand, is still uncertain. None of the Kingfisher flights are operating from Patna airport since March 25. A notice has also been put at the airline’s counter at Patna airport, which reads: “IT 571 (Patna-Ranchi-Bombay) and IT 3347 (Patna-Delhi) stands cancelled with effect from March 25, 2012.”
