Jobs are raining on Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna campus in spite of difficult economic conditions.

The premier B-school has managed to achieve 100 per cent placement for its students. Interestingly, the institute this year has received more placements offer as compared to previous years.

According to the CIMP sources, for every student this year, there was 1.5 times offer. It means, for 32 students passing this year, there were 46 offers from different companies. Of the 32 students, 45 per cent are women.

The CIMP, established in 2008, has been able to attract many private and nationalised companies, including Asian Paints, Bihar Medical Service Corporation Ltd (BMSCIL), General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC), for placement activities this year besides regular recruiters like Amul, Comfed, Frontier Growth, LIC Housing Finance Ltd, ITC, Jeevika, Yes Bank and others.

CIMP placement in-charge Rajeev Verma said: “The postgraduate programme in management of CIMP has been firmly gaining in stature in the corporate domain over the years. Companies are delighted by the knowledge and talent of our students.”

Verma added that average package this year was Rs 6.5 lakh per annum — more than previous year’s Rs 5.5 lakh. The highest package offered this year is Rs 11 lakh per annum by an FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) company that the institute does not want to disclose.

Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotions Society (BRLPS), also known as Jeevika, has been the mass recruiter with giving offer letters to nine students at an average package of Rs 6 lakh per annum.

CIMP director V. Mukunda Das said: “The reason behind a large number of students from the institute joining social sector agencies such as Jeevika is that they want simultaneous social and economic development of the state.” Nitin Anand, a student who has been placed at Amul, said: “I received offers from different companies but I preferred to join Amul, the dairy company, which directly connects with people.” Though Nitin refused to divulge the pay package, which he has been offered, he stated that it was more than the average Rs 6.5 lakh per annum.

Apart from final placements, CIMP summer placements for the batch of PGP 2013-15 is better compared to last year.
