Patna: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Sunday released the merit list for admission in undergraduate courses at 440 colleges under 10 universities.

Ten state universities except Patna University have conducted the admission test for undergraduate courses through online facilitation system for students (OFSS). Of 4.11 lakh students, who had applied under OFSS, around 3.44 lakh can take admission from July 16 to 24 in different colleges.

"The online process will help regularise the academic calendar in state universities. Students can fill up application forms from 3,400 Vasudha Kendras, 314 district registration-cum-facilitation centres and cyber cafes," Malik said.

The governor released the merit list in the presence of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Anand Kishor and principal secretary to the governor, Vivek Kumar Singh.

After the release of the merit list, Kishor said: "The OFSS will benefit students, as they don't have to visit respective colleges to take admission."

Even students are happy about the launch. Anup Kumar, a student from TPS College, Patna, said: "Earlier, we didn't know much about different courses, students' seats and infrastructure of colleges where we had to take admission. But the new system makes all details available to us. Students can applied in different colleges depending on their preferences."

Kishor said the new admission process will relieve students from visiting different colleges for enquiries, saving their time and money. Under the OFSS, a student has to pay only Rs 300, including Rs 100 for the application process and Rs 200 under the college head. Student will get all admission details on their mobiles at regular intervals. BSEB will issue a second merit list after July 24 for candidates who don't make it to the first."
