Keen on declaring class X and XII results on time this year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has started the evaluation of answer sheets of both the classes. The checking of Class X papers would be over soon, said a CBSE official.
The CBSE city co-ordinator-cum-chief nodal supervisor, Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, told The Telegraph: “The evaluation of the answer sheets of classes X and XII has started after March 15 and the CBSE is keen on the timely publication of results. The CBSE regional officer, S.U. Sorte, is alert and all work related to evaluation are going on according to the schedule.”
Unlike Class X, examination of a few subjects like music, fine arts and political science of Class XII, are yet to be conducted. The evaluation of these papers would take some more time.
Sources said examiners are spending more time than they used to in the previous years because of the Supreme Court order giving students the right to have a photocopy of the evaluated answer sheets. According to the apex court order, if any student, after the results are declared, feels he/she has not been assessed properly, the student could get a photocopy of the answer sheet after depositing a fee. Moreover, this year, the examiners have to give in writing that they had evaluated the answer sheets according to the marking standards set by the CBSE.
The Class X results of the Patna region got delayed the most in the country last year. To avoid repetition, the CBSE has asked the affiliated schools to send the marks of the internal assessments (under continuous and comprehensive evaluation) conducted in Class IX (when the Class X students were in Class IX) and in Class X earlier this year with the motive to declare the Class X results on time.
Aditya, one of the students who took the Class X board examination this year, said: “I am eagerly waiting for the results. The sooner the better because I think I have performed well. The more time the CBSE takes in declaring the results, the more tensed I will be.”
Another student, Shubham Kumar, who has taken his Class XII examination, said: “The earlier the results are declared, the better it would be for students like me. We have to sit for competitive examinations. If the board result is good, we can expect the same in the competitive examinations.”
