Studying just got easier.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched a mobile application "E-CBSE" for providing e-learning material to students and teachers. The new app was launched on December 25.
E-CBSE contains study materials and course books from classes I to XII.
Students of Patna welcomed the initiative of the board.
"This application helps in building problem-solving skills. It lists thousands of problems that train us in specific areas of mathematics and physics. It explains the entire mathematics theorem in a very innovative way," said Jigyasa, a Class XI student of Notre Dame Academy.
She added: "The app provides all the information that is needed for the periodic table. It helps in the exploration of the properties of elements, the standard amino acids etc. So, I don't need to open my book to see the properties of the metal, I can see it on my mobile."?
Mohit Kumar, a Class X student of St Michael's High School, said he doesn't need to buy previous years' board and sample papers, as it is available on the application.
"The greatest relief for me is that I study at night wherever I want to. In two months, I will be taking my board exams. This app is a boon for us," he said.
Class XI student Rohan Kedia said: "It is a handy tool for students who did not attend classes because of some reason and who are enrolled in non-attending schools. They will understand things better on the app."
Some students, however, feel that the application needs to be perked up.
"It's a good app but it needs improvisation. It has only NCERT books of additional subjects. The books of the main subjects should be added too. Also, it should be made more user-friendly," said Class IX student Sakshi Pandey of St Dominic Savio's High School.
The app has solved board sample papers that come handy in understanding the problems in mathematics, physics and chemistry. "But it needs to add more leading publications' reference books, which will prove fruitful for the students," said Aman Raj, a Class XII student of Loyola High School.
The app will be very helpful in areas with high-speed Internet. "The app comprises three main components - the creation of digital infrastructure, delivering services digitally and digital literacy," said C.B. Singh, the secretary of Patliputra CBSE Sahodaya, a group of CBSE schools.
E-CBSE is part of the ongoing Digital India programme, said D.T. Sudarshan Rao, the joint secretary (academic and training) CBSE.
"This is an endeavour to enrich the students and the teachers by providing various learning and teaching resources to supplement and compliment the curriculum transactions. This is in addition to the resources available for students provided by the NCERT," he added.
