Patna, Sept. 12: Numerous complaints were registered at a camp organised by Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) today to redress issues related to electricity matters.

Consumers mainly put forward grievances with regard to rural electrification, delay in installation of transformers, setting up of additional transformers, irregularities in electricity bills, fixing of poles and wires among other issues.

BSEB chairman P.K. Rai, who along with Rana Awadhesh (board member, administration), board’s secretary K.K. Verma, Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu) general manager SKP Singh, gave a patient hearing to registered complainants individually and assured them that their grievances would be sorted out at the earliest.

The Pesu GM said about four dozen applications were received during the janata darbar on Monday. Most of the complaints registered belonged to three or four types, which included the development of infrastructure in suburban areas because of heavy urbanisation, expansion of low-tension wires, installation of new transformers, poles, rural electrification apart from timely delivery and correction of electricity bills, Singh said.

The camp is organised on the second Monday of every month. The number of complainants has been dwindling every month because of the camps organised by the department at the district-level.

Birendra Sharma, a resident of Kadamkuan, came with a complaint for applying for a new connection for a premise which already has electricity dues. Singh said no new connection could be given on a premise with electricity dues. Sharma, who wants a new connection, was at loggerheads with his landlord for not depositing the electricity bill despite paying his landlord for the same. One Ajay Kumar had come from Mohania village in Buxar district, seeking installation of transformers in his village. Singh said their grievances were redressed on the spot.
