Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday officially declared 1800 3456 268 and 15545 as toll free numbers for registering prohibition-related complaints, which will be received by an intelligence collection centre working as part of the office of the ADG/ IG (Prohibition) that functions under the CID.
The intelligence collection centre will function for 10 hours daily in the beginning, but will operate round-the-clock from April 15.
"If you think anybody is flouting prohibition, you can call from your mobile on these two numbers. Your identity will be kept secret while the police will take action within a stipulated time. Do not be afraid of complaining," Nitish said while publicising the toll free numbers.
The chief minister was speaking at a function organised to mark the second anniversary of total prohibition. Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, prohibition and excise minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, parliamentary affairs minister Shrawan Kumar, chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, principal secretary, home, Amir Subhani, director-general of police K.S. Dwivedi and several other officials were present on the occasion.
"These numbers will be printed on boards and displayed on electricity poles in every village. There are eight crore mobile phones among over 11 crore population in Bihar and we expect that people will use them to strengthen prohibition, which has brought huge and positive changes in the social fabric," Nitish added.
The chief minister said the government will also telephone the complainant to check whether he is satisfied over the action taken on the complaint or not.
Nitish lauded the role of the state information technology department and its secretary, Rahul Singh, for setting up the call centre or intelligence collection centre in which inputs from IG (Prohibition) Ratan Sanjay Katiyar were also taken.
Demonstrating the way the centre works, Rahul said it will be able to receive 10 calls simultaneously. The intelligence inputs will be immediately forwarded to the chief of the police station concerned for action along with a deadline within which he has to reach the designated place.
The SHO will have to take action and inform the centre. This will be verified with the complainant, with the help of coded information.
