The cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to the state government’s proposal to provide free medical aid to pregnant women and ailing infants as part of the Janani Suraksha Yojana.
“Pregnant women and ailing newborns will be provided with medical aid free of cost as part of the Janani Suraksha Yojana,” cabinet coordination department principal secretary Ravikant told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The range of medical facilities that the government has proposed for the would-be mothers as part of the scheme includes free caesarean delivery, medical check-ups and medicines. Ravikant said after the cabinet’s approval, no registration fees would have to be paid by the pregnant women once they got admitted to state-run hospitals.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the cabinet also approved the government’s proposal to construct four bypass roads in Nalanda district. The state government would construct 6.4942 km road under Rajgir division of the district. The bypass road would be constructed keeping in mind the construction of Nalanda University in the district.
Ravikant said: “The state government will spend Rs 34.16 crore for the purpose. The amount would be spent for acquiring land and construction of culverts among other heads. The bypass road would begin from Nima village and would continue till Hassanpur village in the Rajgir division.”
The cabinet also gave its nod for the construction of Hilsa bypass. The 6.575-km road would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 89.733 crore. The amount would be used for land acquisition and construction of small bridges and culverts.
Ravikant told reporters that that the cabinet approved the state’s proposal for Bihar state Mutation Act, 2012. The Act gives an overview of a comprehensive rule of 2012 where the land mutation would be done for which applications have to be submitted. The state cabinet also gave its nod to formation of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (2012).
The cabinet coordination department principal secretary added that the cabinet sanctioned Rs 2 crore as an aid to Bihar Bal Bhavan Kilkari. The Bihar Bal Bhavan Kilkari is a programme of state the education department, under which urban children living in slums are provided with education and skills to develop their extra-curricular activities.
The cabinet, during the day’s meeting, gave approval for altogether 15 agendas.
