Liquor prohibition study
• PATNA: A 31-member team from Karnataka led by chairman of Temperance Board H.C. Rudappa will arrive in Patna to study the implementation of prohibition in Bihar. The team will include officials of the state, including social welfare commissioner Vikas Kumar Vikas and IPS officer V. Pathraj. The team will have an interaction with Bihar government officials at the Secretariat in which the Bihar minister for excise and prohibition Bijendra Yadav will also be present.
Jail warden posts
• PATNA: Anand Kishore, inspector-general (jails), has declared the appointment of 1,968 jail wardens in Bihar. This will include 775 women wardens. Kishore said at present against sanctioned posts of 4,898 only 1,117 jail wardens were working in Bihar and after this recruitment the situation will ease in the prisons of the state and there will be an improvement in security.
Lathicharge protest
• PATNA: Members of Bihar Mahila Samaj took out a protest march against lathicharge on women activists who were protesting against removal of 50,000 people living in Kathputli Colony at the behest of a private contractor in Delhi on October 30. Members of the organisation alleged that several of its members received injuries' in the lathicharge. The protest in Patna demanded suspension of the guilty policemen.
Khadi promotion
• PATNA: Governor Sat Pal Malik held a meeting with officials on promotion of khadi. The principal secretary to governor Brajesh Malhotra, industry department principal secretary S. Siddhartha and other officials were present on the occasion. Khadi promotion was discussed at the recent governors' meet in Delhi. The governor emphasised the need to train weavers and how to make raw material available to them.
Vigilance week
• PATNA: State Bank of India-Patna organised a vigilance awareness week under the chairmanship of chief general manager Sandeep Tewari.
