Varsity revival hopes

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday said the Union government has already initiated steps to revive the ancient Vikramshila University by sanctioning Rs 500 crore to this effect.

He said this while responding to chief minister Nitish Kumar's statement about Vikramshila University during the convocation ceremony at Nalanda University on Saturday.

Crude bombs

Sitamarhi: A middle-aged woman identified as Heera Devi received splinter injuries when a crude bomb suddenly went off at Malahi village, under the jurisdiction of Sursand police station in Sitamarhi district on Sunday. Police later recovered four live bombs from a paddy field and were defused by the district bomb disposal squad.

Arrest

Sasaram: A man called Sheshnath Singh was arrested on Sunday for allegedly helping stone quarrying trucks, belonging to the mining mafias of Rohtas and Kaimur districts, cross the integrated commercial check posts with forged documents.

Boy drowns

Chhapra: An 18-year-old boy, Suman Kumar of Jhauwa village under Avatar Nagar police station, drowned in floodwaters while arranging for fodder for his cattle on Sunday. The boy was swept away by the strong currents of the water.
