Pollution fight

Patna: Patna divisional commissioner Anand Kishor on Sunday asked the Patna Municipal commissioner to launch a drive to stop use of old generators, polluting the environment with smoke, between August 9 and 12 at all government and private offices, apartments, schools and hospitals.

He directed the old equipment to be replaced with silent generators.

Schools shut

Patna: The government has ordered all government and private schools in districts under the Saran division to be closed till further orders following violence at Maker in Saran district.

Flood toll

Patna: The disaster management department announced four more flood-related deaths in the state on Sunday, taking the toll to 95.

Suspension

Patna: The water resources department on Sunday suspended executive engineer Anshuman Thakur in the Champaran division, Motihari for financial irregularities in anti-erosion work.

Yoga training

Patna: Residents interested in yoga training can register at the Patna divisional commissioner's office between 11am and 5pm from Monday.

Liquor cuffs

Darbhanga: Government Railway Police held Ramji Chandel at Darbhanga railway station on Sunday for carrying liquor on train.
