Bike mishap

Patna, June 4: Three persons, including a woman, died on the spot after a bike on which they were travelling collided with a pick-up van near Gokhulpur under Bihta police station this afternoon. Police said driver of the pick-up van was speeding and lost control.

Industry plea

Patna: The Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by president O.P. Sah, on Saturday wrote to Indian Railways to increase the frequency of its roll-on, roll-off freight service to ferry loaded and empty goods trucks across the Ganga, instead of hiking freight charges.

Event

Extortion arrest

Patna, June 4: Bittu Sharma, who had assaulted retired Bharat Coking Coal Limited employee Shyam Sunder Sharma for failing to pay levy of Rs 1 lakh, has been arrested, police said today. The victim succumbed to his injuries last week.

Complaint

Patna: A person approached the Patna SSP's office on Saturday, alleging some people assaulted him when he tried to stop them from molesting his teenage daughter. SSP Manu Maharaaj was not in office and Patna SP (west) Satya Prakash said the matter will be probed.

Poll count

Darbhanga: Counting of votes for the panchayat polls was delayed at a centre in Darbhanga on Saturday after a mukhiya candidate protested that the ballot box was opened in his absence.
