Cops injured in clash

Patna: Tension prevailed in Siwan following clashes between two groups at Nawalpur on Friday.

The police had to open fire to bring the situation under control. Several policemen were injured and glasses of vehicles were smashed.

Raid

Khagaria: A police team conducted a raid at Parbatta and seized a country-made carbine and a large number of live cartridges. Nobody could be arrested.

Patna: Social welfare minister Manju Verma on Friday flagged off five mobile vans (an initiative of the social welfare department and Youth Mobilisation for National Advancement , Disha and World Vision India - all non-government organisations) to create awareness about the ill effects of alcohol in wake of the total prohibition.

Youth held in kidney racket

Madhepura: A youth, identified as Anmol Kumar Mukhiya, was arrested from Singheshwar on Friday for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl for illegal kidney transplant.

However, his four associates managed to escape. Police said Mukhiya, a resident of Jajhat Sabaila village, was involved in illegal racket for long.

Jail clash

Buxar: Six prisoners lodged in Buxar Central Jail suffered injuries in a group clash inside the jail on Friday. The prison authorities had to use minor force to bring the situation under control.

Girl run over

Gopalganj: A private bus was set on fire after it knocked down a school student at Madhopur on Friday. The police resorted to baton charge to disperse the unruly mob, which had indulged in stone-pelting and arson to protest the victim's death. The victim was hit while crossing the road in the morning to attend her coaching classes.

Peddler hunt

Aurangabad: The police have launched a hunt for the arrest of two drug peddlers, Shakunti Devi and Muneshwari Devi, who escaped from police custody on Thursday night.

Kid arrest

Gaya: Four minors were arrested on Friday for allegedly robbing truck operators and drivers on the national highway near Dobhi, close to the Bihar-Jharkhand border.
