Probe order

Patna, Dec. 30: Deputy inspector-general (Darbhanga range) Umashankar Sudhanshu has ordered a probe into the circumstances under which sharp shooter Mukesh Pathak's wife got pregnant in judicial custody in Sheohar.

The woman is three months pregnant. Mukesh, named in the Darbhanga engineers' murder case, had escaped from judicial custody in July.

Student found

Patna: Shaheed, the engineering student of a Bihta college allegedly kidnapped from Patna on December 26, was found in Gopalganj on Wednesday evening. Police said Shaheed was found unconscious and admitted to a hospital. Officers suspect he was sedated by the kidnappers.

Extortion

Patna: Raushan Choudhary was arrested for demanding extortion from a resident.

Karate tourney

Patna: The department of art, culture and youth affairs will organise a national-level karate championship in Patna.

Divisional commissioner Anand Kishor announced the decision on Wednesday while awarding winners of a state-level karate competition at SK Memorial Hall.

Trains' origin

Patna: The Lokmanya Tilak Express, Patna-Pune Express and Patna-Bangalore Sanghamitra Express will originate from Patliputra Junction instead of Rajendra Nagar Terminal from January 1, the East Central Railway said on Wednesday. The Capital Express and Danapur-Howrah Express will also originate from the Rajendra Nagar Terminal instead of Danapur from New Year's Day.

Mishap

Chhapra: An autorickshaw driver died on the spot after being hit by the Gwalior Express at an unmanned railway crossing between Daudpur and Kopa Samhota railway stations on Wednesday morning.
