This Holi would be hot and dry.

Weathermen said the temperature would soar in the next two days. But the humidity would not be as high. Rain is unlikely on Wednesday. On Thursday, isolated thunderstorms are expected at few places in the state.

The day (maximum) temperature on Wednesday and Thursday is expected to be around 35°C and the night (minimum) temperature would be around 20°C.

The ideal time to join the riot of colours is between 9am and 3pm, said Ashish Sen, the director of India Meteorological Department, Patna. He told The Telegraph: “Generally water is used to pour colours on each other. Between 9am and 3pm, the temperature would be around 25°C, to which the human body can adjust easily. The temperature in the morning hours would be comparatively low, unsuitable for prolonged exposure of body to water.”

Sen said the temporary gusts of easterly and south-easterly in daytime was leading to slight moisture incursion in the atmosphere. It could to lead to isolated thunderstorms over the next few days.

The dry wind is a worry for revellers. Ravi Kumar, a resident of Ashiana Nagar, said: “Flying sand particles are making life difficult for us. Authorities should ensure proper sweeping of streets once in a while in the summer. I will sport sunglasses on Holi to avoid dust.”
