Patna, March 23: The Mounted Military Police (MMP) personnel kept the audience spellbound with their grand horse jump shows at the Miller School ground here today.
The Bihar Military Police (BMP) organised the show as part of the ongoing Bihar Divas celebrations.
The two buggies of the MMP, which were brought to the ground perhaps for the first time, were the main centres of attraction for the people, especially children.
One of the buggies was donated by then Maharaja of Dumraon (Buxar) to the MMP for controlling crime in the riverine belt. The police provided children the opportunity to ride 20 horses of the force. The children also enjoyed a lot by travelling on the well-decorated buggies.
Additional director-general (ADG), BMP, A.C. Verma said they wanted to present the taint pegging show on the occasion. “But the ground was too small to organise such a show,” he said. Verma said the horses have been specially trained for taint pegging, an exclusive show of the MMP.
“The MMP personnel had been decorated with silver and bronze medals at the recently concluded national games held in Ranchi in Jharkhand,” he added.
The ADG said the main purpose behind organising such shows was to bring people closer to the police force.
Twelve horses of the MMP had been sent to Chandigarh to take part in the all-India Police Equestrian Meet, he added.
