BMP constable shot dead in Gaya

Unidentified assailants gunned down Guddu Sharma, 26, a constable of the Bihar Military Police, on Wednesday morning. Sharma was on leave and had gone to his village home in Alipur police station area.

Gaya: Unidentified assailants gunned down Guddu Sharma, 26, a constable of the Bihar Military Police, on Wednesday morning. Sharma was on leave and had gone to his village home in Alipur police station area.

A resident of Nimsar village, Sharma was riding a bike when the waiting assassins gunned him down near Madarpur village.

The assailants pumped nearly half a dozen bullets into the constable's body. The constable died instantly.

Irate residents of the village protested with the slain constable's body. The police had a tough time taking the body out for post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem would be done at Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College Hospital. The residents pushed the police when they came to take away the body. Guddu's elder brother too is in the police, attached to senior BJP leader and former Union health minister C.P. Thakur as his security guard.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajiv Mishra said the motive behind the murder is not known.

"Could be a case of old enmity," said the SSP. Guddu's family members' statements were yet to be recorded. No arrests had been made.
