Anxious engineering aspirants sat in front of computers all day long on Monday to check the JEE (Main) merit list. But the rankings were not declared till evening.
Thousands of students were pinning their hopes on the JEE (Main) rankings list, which the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) was to declare on Monday.
Shivangi Gupta, a student, said: “My friends and I have been checking the CSAB website since morning, waiting for JEE (Main) rank but it has not been declared yet.” Shivangi, who secured a rank of 1457 in IIT-JEE (Advanced), has been eagerly waiting for the JEE (Main) result as she hopes to clinch a good rank there based on her JEE (Main) marks and Class XII results. Gupta has scored 217 out of 360 in the JEE (Main) examination and 84 per cent in Class XII (Uttar Pradesh board) examination.
CSAB would generate the rank of students after giving 60 per cent weightage to JEE (Main) marks and 40 per cent weightage to Class XII board marks.
Alok Ranjan, another student who got 255 marks in JEE (Main) examination and 94 per cent in Class XII examination (CBSE), too, kept checking the CSAB website.
CBSE was mum over why the rankings were not declared on Monday. CBSE regional office head S.U. Sorte could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
